Colombo Courtyard receives int'l ward for best interior
Colombo Courtyard, the Urban Art Boutique Hotel situated at Alfred
House Avenue, Colombo 3, Sri Lanka was voted as “Best Hotel Interior” at
the recently concluded prestigious international hotel awards in the
Asia Pacific region out of companies in 19 countries for 2013.
The most sought after awards presentation was held at Shangri-La
Hotel in Kuala Lumpur recently. A total of 94 awards were presented to
all the participating 19 countries in the Asia Pacific region for a
range of Hotels from small to large and general to specialty.
Arun K Thapar, Managing Director of Colombo Courtyard says the hotel
promotes creativity of Sri Lankan artistes. The International Hotel
Awards has up to three 5-star awards for each of the 16 categories on a
national level prior to gaining eligibility to complete on a regional
level. In addition to several types of specialty hotels they are
categorized by size of hotel, architecture, construction, interior
design, concept, marketing initiatives and website.
New comer’s to enter this prestigious competition were Turkmenistan,
Pakistan, New Zealand, Laos and Macau, with all of these countries
receiving at least an award. Lord Bates from the House of Lords in
British Parliament presented the winning companies with special plaques
during awards presentations recently. Each company was announced as
either a ‘Highly Commended’ or ‘5-Star’ winner.
The 5-star winners were placed under further examination and just one
from each category was selected to represent the Asia Pacific region in
the 2013 International Hotel Awards.The regional winners, who were
announced at the close of the awards gala, will go on to compete in the
International Final ‘World’s Best’ Hotel Awards at the World Travel
Market next November in London.
