Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, a politician with an impeccable
character - Ven. Ittepane Dhammalankara Anunayake Thera
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has rendered a
great service to the country, nation and religion during his 30 years of
political life ever since he was elected to Parliament at the Maharagama
by election on May 18, 1983 said Ven Ittepane Dhammalankara Anunayake
Thera of the Kotte Sri Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha.

held at the Isipathanaramaya, Maharagama to mark Minister

The Ven Thera was delivering an anusasana at a religions ceremony to
mark Minister Dinesh Gunawardena's completion of 30 years public life
held at the Isipathanaramaya, Maharagama with the participation of
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on May 18.
Ven Dhammalankara Anunayake Thera said Minister Gunawardena is among
the handful of politicians in this country with an impeccable character
not sullied by charges of bribery or corruption. Minister Gunawardena is
also a devout Buddhist who belonged to the Boralugoda clan of
politicians.
Ven Prof Bellanwila Wimalaratana Thera said Minister Gunawardena is
an excellent politician who was inclined towards Buddhist principles in
performing his duties. He rendered a great contribution towards the
development of sacred areas. Minister Dinesh Gunawardena thanked the
Maha Sangha, President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister D M Jayaratne
and Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa for the honour bestowed on him by gracing
the occasion. Their presence was also a tribute to the people of
Maharagama who had elected him. He said Buddhist principles offered him
great strength in gaining various achievements in his political life.
A sanghika dana was held for 150 members of the Maha Sangha led by
Most Ven Dawuldena Gnanissara Mahanayake Thera of the Sri Lanka
Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha.
