A special “Vesak Darma Deshanaya”
jointly organized by the Buddhist Association and Welfare
Association of Ministry of External Affairs was held under
the patronage of External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris
at the Ministry Auditorium recently. The sermon was
delivered by Vidyodaya Pirivena Chief Incumbent and Kelaniya
University Chancellor Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladamma Thera.

Following the conclusion of the Sri
Pada pilgrim season the statue of Deity Saman, the casket of
relics and the Deva Abharana kept at the summit were taken
in procession to the Sri Pada Dharma Madyasthanaya enroute
to the Galpoththawala Raja Maha Viharaya, Pelmadulla on May
26. Here the statue and the sacred objects placed at the
Dharma Madyasthanaya where an all night Pirith ceremony was
held before they were transferred to the Galpoththawala Raja
Maha Viharaya, Pelmadulla via the Ratnapura, Sumana Saman
Maha Devalaya. Sri Padasthanadhipati Ven Bengamuwe
Dhammadinna Thera and Nuwara Eliya GA, D P G Kumarasiri were

Economic Development Minister Basil
