Global investors keen to invest in Sri Lanka - Nepali business magnate

Chaudhary Group of Nepal Chairman Binod K. Chaudhary said global investors were very keen to invest in Sri Lanka and the investment climate as well as the infrastructure was praiseworthy. Ranked as the worlds’ 1,342nd richest man, he said that investors throughout the world whom he meets were excited about investing in Sri Lanka.

Chaudhary has been visiting Sri Lanka for the past 17 years and had invested with both the Taj and the Jetwing Groups. He said during the last few years, he had seen a vast transformation and beautification in the city of Colombo and that Sri Lanka could be another Singapore, as predicted by former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kwan Yew.

“I am highly impressed with the development that has been taking place in Colombo and I see a big difference.”

Chaudhary Group of Nepal, while reinvesting in their businesses in Sri Lanka, is also looking at establishing a cement factory in the North together with several other hotels throughout Sri Lanka.

He said he had met President Mahinda Rajapaksa on several occasions and was a great admirer of the President.
