SL emerge champs at Australian Junior International

Sri Lankan pair of Sachin Dias and Buwaneka Goonathileka emerged men's Under-19 doubles champions at the Australian International Badminton Championships concluded in Balart yesterday.

The unseeded Lankan duo sprang the biggest shock of the tournament when they beat bottom seeded Anthony Joe and Pit Seng Low of Australia in a keenly contested two setter 23-21, 21-16. The giant killers made their presence felt throughout the tournament and humbled the top seeded pair in the first round. Dias and Goonethileka beat Australia's Daniel Guda and Toby Wong 21-13, 21-14 in the semi finals.
