Old Anandian Police Cadet Forum formed
An Old Anandian Police Cadet Forum was formed recently to support the
national Police Cadet Corps and the college cadet movement.
The Sri Lanka Police Cadet Corps was raised in July 1972 as a project
sponsored by the Education Ministry and the Defence Ministry. The Corps
functioned as an integral part of the Police Reserve. However, the
functions of the Corps was later weakened and in 2010, it was
rejuvenated under the present government.
During its first session, the Old Anandian (Colombo 10) Cadet Forum
seconded a proposal to express gratitude to President Mahinda Rajapaksa
and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa for reviving the Police Cadet
Movement.
The following office-bearers were elected: Chairman: Colonel Ranjith
Wijesundera, Vice Chairman: M.A.K.E.Manthrirathna and Captain Nirmal de
Silva, Secretary: Vipula Makolage, Deputy Secretary: Inspector Jagath
Kithsiri, Treasurer: Colonel Mahinda Jayasinghe, Deputy Treasurer:
M.D.Dharmasena.
