Nipuni Wimalapala
She says she is very much into fashion, but that recently she has
discovered a new talent and her creativity can be expressed more through
her paintings.
Nishanya Gunaratne, an upcoming young aesthetic artist will unveil
her creativity through her very first exhibition Piyawara. The
exhibition will be held at Kala Bhawana on April 27 at 9.30am featuring
more than 90 paintings. The exhibition will go on till the 29 and art
enthusiasts are welcome to see the exhibit from 9am to 6pm.
Speaking to the Daily News, Gunaratne said, "Though art is my inborn
talent, I have never learnt it academically, even in my schooldays I
never learnt art but I did participate in school level art exhibitions
and won many awards. Recently I joined the Art School attached to the
Ceylon Art Society and started learning art as a subject. That's how I
got the chance to hold this exhibition."
Piyawara is an outcome of her creativity plus the great support given
by the Art School of Ceylon Art Society. The principal and the teachers
have motivated her and given their maximum support to make the
exhibition a success and it's sponsored by the Society.
Her paintings are in different forms focusing on many areas and
capturing nature through the different strokes in her paintings. From
portraits, modern arts and line drawings, she also draws sceneries. All
these forms are done in a perfect manner. Her works are impressive and
quite classy.
Piyawara will unveil the exclusiveness of her paintings.
A fashion designer by profession, she owns her fashion designing
place where she designs bridal wear, party wear and any type of dresses
but with all this she is very keen in painting as she believes that it
is her inborn talent.
Gunaratne conveys her heartiest gratitude to her teachers of the Art
School of Ceylon Arts Society and her parents who help her in
everything. She expects to carry the exhibition out further in the
coming years and she invites everyone to visit the exhibition. |
