Bacon Cup and Pioneer Shield hockey semis today

The final stage of two major inter-club hockey tournaments, Bacon Cup and Pioneer Shield championships will be worked off from April 25 to 28 at the Astro Turf, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7.

The Colombo Hockey Association conducting the both tournaments and most of the elite teams in the club fraternity are taking part. The last semi-final of the Bacon Cup tourney between Old Bens and CH & FC ‘B’ will be played on April 25 evening and the winners will take on Royal HC in the final on April 28 at 3.30pm.

Royal HC has already booked their final berth by beating Moratuwa Uiversity team 7-4 in the first semi-final. The first semi-final of the Pioneer Shield tournament will see CH & FC ‘A’ meeting Old Peterites on April 25 at 4.30pm while the Old Anandians will be battled it out with BRC on the following day at 4.30pm in the other semi-final. The Pioneer Shield final will also be worked off on April 28 evening.
