Ranil, DC further restrained

The enjoining order preventing the UNP leadership and the
Disciplinary Committee from conducting a disciplinary inquiry against
UNP Parliamentarians who supported the impeachment motion against former
Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake was further extended till May 28 by
Mount Lavinia District Judge Priyantha Fernando on Tuesday. The District
Judge also ordered the two parties to submit written submissions on that
date.
The case was filed by UNP Parliamentarians Manusha Nanayakkara, Mohan
Lal Grero, Lakshman Seneviratne, Nilwala Wijesinghe, Earl Gunasekera and
Upeksha Swarnamali against UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, General
Secretary Tissa Attanayake and the UNP Disciplinary Committee.
Faizer Mustapha PC with Ali Sabry PC, Athula de Silva, Isuru
Balapatabendi and Sanjeewa Kaluarachchi appeared for the plaintiff.
The case will be called again on May 28. |
