Tank renovation needed

Galapitagala Wewa, Siripala Wewa, Jayasumana Wewa and Wawgala Wewa, which can store water to cultivate about 500 acres of paddy fields in Kandasurindugama Grama Niladhari Division of the Kataragama, are overwhelmed by jungle as authorities have neglected them and are now in a dilapidated condition for several decades. Kataragama Agrarian Development Officer S. B. Sunil Sriyananda said if these tanks were renovated, about 400 farmer families could benefit and it can contribute to the paddy production of the country.

Farmers who cultivated paddy with the use of these tanks in the past, urge authorities to renovate them as soon as possible.
