Farms coming up islandwide

Two hundred and fifty commercial basis farms will be set up islandwide, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said.

He said 25 farms will be set up in each district.

The minister said agricultural implements and appliances worth Rs 500,000 will be provided to each farm.

The minister said the aim of the programme is to make the country self -sufficient in vegetables, fruits and subsidiary crops.
