Lakmal Fonseka awarded Supiri Gold Award

CAPEX & Operations-Procurement Manager, Lakmal Fonseka received the
Supiri Gold Award at Holcim (Lanka) Ltd.’s annual internal awards
‘Holcim Supiri Awards’, which was held recently at Water’s Edge in
Battaramulla. The 2013 Holcim Supiri Awards drew one of the largest
numbers of submissions ever, representing a broad range of functions
across Holcim Lanka Ltd.With more than 170 entries, competition was
remarkably strong.

Materials were judged by an internal technical committee and the
shortlist was then reviewed by a distinguished panel of external
professionals who were chaired by Dr Ajantha Dharmasiri. With the active
competition being very alive and fruitful, the company is one of those
establishments in the country today that continuously maintains and
enhances their viable advantage.Many investments for projects that have
been well underway, including the The Ruhunu Cement Works (RCW) project,
is scheduled to be completed before the end of 2013.“Our biggest
challenge this year would be in terms of the entire organization getting
ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
We are now in the process of introducing the NPS system to our
current work flow, to understand our customer’s needs and actively begin
the transition from a product driven working culture to a more customer
centric environment,” Philippe Richart, CEO, Holcim Lanka said. Lakmal
Fonseka, who took away the award for his passion, commitment, team work
and had gone beyond his work to realize the RCW project’s results and
for taking up the challenge to bring the overall project cost to within
the board required level.
The grand event is held every year to highlight the company’s ability
to constantly innovate and achieve superiority in whatever they do by
recognizing the people who have shown leadership in their respective
functions and job roles. The award categories include sales awards,
innovative idea awards, safety awards, merit awards and mainly the
Supiri awards in Gold, Silver and Bronze. |
