Two Lankans arrested trying to smuggle gold

Two Sri Lankans were arrested at the international air terminus in Chenai while trying to smuggle 470 grams of undeclared gold from Colombo.

The two Lankans, after alighting from a flight from Colombo, tried to leave the airport with the gold, when customs officials nabbed them, airport sources said.

The gold seized from the two, who came on a tourist visa to India, was valued at 1.2 million Indian rupees, PTI reported.
