British tourists robbed, suspects in custody

Three suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 490,250 worth property from a British couple staying at a hotel in Marawila.

They were remanded until April 10 when produced before the Marawila magistrate court.

The Police also seized the stolen laptop computer, a digital camera and a mobile phone from their possession.

The Chilaw Police were able to trace the loot after a tip-off.

The suspects were on the verge of selling the goods to a prospective buyer at Kokkawila, Chilaw when the Police caught them.
