Dud notes in H’tota and Thanamalwila

The Police request the public to contact the nearest police station or the CID if they receive counterfeit notes in the denomination of Rs 1,000, bearing numbers Q 26-989680, Q 8-925326, Q 22955816 and Q 16989680 in circulation in Hambantota and Thanamalwila.

Information about the fake notes was received by STF officers of the Kalutara Police Training School, following the arrest of two suspects in Ratnapura with 14 dud notes in the denomination of Rs 1,000, which they were taking while traveling in a jeep on April 1.

The CID took over the investigation and further interrogation of the suspects revealed information about the third suspect who was arrested from a house in Veyangoda with two fake notes in the denomination of Rs 2,000, half printed 30 notes in the denomination of Rs 1,000 denomination and a multipurpose printing machine.

Investigations are continuing.
