Mineral Sands Ltd makes record profit

Lanka Mineral Sands Limited, an affiliate of the State Resources and Enterprises Development registered a record income this year. A bonus was offered to employees in the wake of this record income made possible under State Resources and Enterprises Development Minister Dayasritha Tissera.

The Lanka Mineral Sands Corporation was privatised by the UNP saying it was operating at a loss. However, the earning of this record income is a notable feature. This achievement was mainly attributed to the dedication of the management and the workers. They were feted for this achievement by handing over a bonus of Rs116, 000 to each employee, sources said.

The bonus was distributed to the staff at a ceremony at the corporation premises attended by Lanka Mineral Sands Corporation chairman Dilshan Gunasekara.

Gold sovereigns were also gifted to six workers who had completed a service period of 25 years. Employees also received gifts.

A CTC scanner was donated to the Pulmoddai District Hospital.
