Eight held with Buddha statue

The Police arrested eight persons who attempted to sell a Buddha statue with archaeological value in Ratnapura.

Police sources said the suspects produced before the Ratnapura Magistrate were remanded until April 10. The suspects were arrested following a tip-off.

The suspects are residents of Ratnapura, Padukka, Naluwakthuduwa, Sannasgama and Julanpitiya, the sources said.
