Three-year-old tortured by men in robes

Two men in robes were arrested by Koswatte Police for allegedly torturing a three – year – old boy named Induwara whose mother had left him and sought foreign employment. The two suspects were due to be produced before the Marawaila magistrate yesterday.

The boy had runaway from a place of worship raising cries alleging that he could not stand the beatings. Then a neighbour had come to his assistance and handed him over to the Police after providing food.

The Police said the boy had nearly 25 tell tale marks of severe beatings all over his body.

Investigations are continuing. Police said the boy was admitted to Marawila Hospital for treatment.
