External Affairs Minister Professor G
L Peiris was the keynote speaker at the symposium on
Public-Private Partnership in the Seychelles on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Jean-Paul Adam of the Seychelles and Leader
of the Opposition David Pierre were among the participants
in the seminar which was attended by the leaders of the
business community in the Seychelles. The ministers, in
their presentations, dealt with the synergies between Sri
Lanka and the Seychelles which make collaboration,
especially with regard to the resources of the ocean, timely
and appropriate together with other Indian Ocean Islands
including Mauritius, Madagascar and Comeros. During the
question and answer session the business community in the
Seychelles demonstrated considerable interest in avenues for
enhanced trade and investment in Sri Lanka and expressed
appreciation of the information imparted to them by the Sri
Lankan delegation. Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to the
Seychelles Shehan Ratnavale and Honorary Consul for Sri
Lanka in the Seychelles Errol Fonseka took part in the
discussion. |

organisations of the Akkaraipattu DS Division recently.

Lions Club of Sammanthurai Golden
City provided school equipment to students of Madarasas and
spectacles to the needy in Sammanthurai at a ceremony held
at the Sammanthurai Divisional Secretariat recently. It was
held under the patronage of its President Lion S Ibralebbe
(centre). Here, the Regional President of the Lions Club S
Selventhran issues a bag containing school equipment to
Moulavi Al-Haj U L M Ameen of Al-Ihlas Islamic Institute to
be distributed among the students of the Institute.
