Woman killed, three injured in trishaw-lorry crash

A woman died on the spot and her husband and two sons were injured when the three wheeler they were travelling, collided with a lorry in Kataragama.

Kataragama Police identified the deceased as Kanthi Samarasinghe Menike, 35, of Detagamuwa Kataragama. Her husband W G Sarath, 42, who drove the three wheeler and eldest son W G Lahiru, 13, were admitted to the Kataragama District Hospital.

Their youngest son W G Chandima, 7, was transferred from Kataragama Hospital to Hambantota Base Hospital as he was in a critical condition. The Police arrested the lorry driver with the help of residents. Investigations revealed the lorry driver was under the influence of liqour.
