Children attending school should be free from ailments to excel in studies and sports, Medical Officer of Health Services, Akkaraipattu Dr I L Siddique said. He was speaking at a ceremony to distribute spectacles free of charge to students of Al Fathimiya Vidyalaya, Akkaraipattu recently. Principal M A C Uwais presided. Deputy Principal S L A Raheem and Public Health Inspector A B Samsudeen also participated.

Siddique said school officials have been directed to check about ailments in students. “It was during a check out that the officials were able to detect students with poor vision. This was brought to the notice of the Deputy Director of Health Services, Kalmunai who took action to provide spectacles to students sponsored by Vision 20 x 20 Organization,” he said.

“Parents should be careful about children's health conditions. The Health Services Department renders an immense service. Dengue cases have been reported from the Ampara district again. By keeping the environment clean and tidy, we can easily control dengue fever,” Siddique said.
