Deyata Kirula creates a strong platform for overall development in every sector of the country, Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne said. The Prime Minister participating in the closing ceremony of the seventh Deyata Kirula Exhibition at Hardy Higher Institute of Technology, Ampara, on Saturday said the exhibition Organising Committee including Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister and Deyata Kirula Exhibition Organisation Committee chairman Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had taken measures to create an attitudinal change and a ‘strong mentality’ among people by showcasing the country’s ancient and proud history through the Deyata Kirula exhibition.

The closing ceremony was held on a grand scale under the patronage of Prime Minister Jayaratne, and Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa. On the advice of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the next Deyata Kirula exhibition will be held in the Kurunegala district which will experience rapid development.

“In line with the development drive under the Deyata Kirula exhibition, the government will upgrade infrastructure and living standards in the Kurunegala, Kegalle and Puttalam districts,” the Prime Minister said.

He handed over the sword symbolising the Deyata Kirula Exhibition, to the President Secretariat signifying the successful conclusion of the seventh Deyata Kirula exhibition.

The Defence Secretary appreciated the dedicated service of all for organising a successful exhibition.

The exhibition commenced on March 23 under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The seventh Deyata Kirula exhibition recorded a turnout of over two million people by the conclusion day, Deyata Kirula Exhibition Organising Committee sources said.
