Deyata Kirula creates a strong platform for overall development in
every sector of the country, Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne said. The
Prime Minister participating in the closing ceremony of the seventh
Deyata Kirula Exhibition at Hardy Higher Institute of Technology, Ampara,
on Saturday said the exhibition Organising Committee including
Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister and Deyata Kirula
Exhibition Organisation Committee chairman Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had
taken measures to create an attitudinal change and a ‘strong mentality’
among people by showcasing the country’s ancient and proud history
through the Deyata Kirula exhibition.
The closing ceremony was held on a grand scale under the patronage of
Prime Minister Jayaratne, and Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa. On
the advice of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the next Deyata Kirula
exhibition will be held in the Kurunegala district which will experience
rapid development.
“In line with the development drive under the Deyata Kirula
exhibition, the government will upgrade infrastructure and living
standards in the Kurunegala, Kegalle and Puttalam districts,” the Prime
Minister said.
He handed over the sword symbolising the Deyata Kirula Exhibition, to
the President Secretariat signifying the successful conclusion of the
seventh Deyata Kirula exhibition.
The Defence Secretary appreciated the dedicated service of all for
organising a successful exhibition.
The exhibition commenced on March 23 under the patronage of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The seventh Deyata Kirula exhibition recorded a turnout of over two
million people by the conclusion day, Deyata Kirula Exhibition
Organising Committee sources said.
The Agricultural Ministry stall and the Janatha Estate Development
Board stall were selected as the best stalls at the exhibition.
The Lake House Stall in the Media Zone attracted large crowds.
Lake House has been taking part in the Deyata Kirula exhibition since
its inception seven years ago. The Lake House stall provided knowledge
and information while showcasing the history of both Lake House and the
print industry. |
