Vidyartha’s Ravindu stuns fancied Devans

Vidyartha College, Kandy scored a stunning seven wicket win over more fancied Maliyadewa College in their schools under 19 Lemonade Trophy limited over cricket match played at Maliyadewa grounds, Kurunegala yesterday.

Vidyartha’s performance has been more remarkable as they are a school playing in the division two of the schools League tournament and Maliyadewa are in the division one of the same tournament.

Maliyadewa College batting first were all at sea against the off spin bowling of Ravindu Dissanayake who in a mesmerizing spell took 6 for 23 off 10 overs which two of them were maidens. The Devans were dismissed for 125 in 40.5 overs. Vidyartha College in reply were 74 for 3 before an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 55 steered them to safety. Krishantha Jayasuriya 36 not out and Kasun Nawaratne 29 not out were responsible for this match winning stand.

Today Vidyartha College will meet St Peters College in another limited over game at Bambalapitiya.
