Education Ministry to recruit 504 science and mathematics graduates

The Education Ministry will recruit 504 science and mathematics
graduates to the teacher’s service today.
The teachers will be attached as science and mathematics teachers to
the 1,000 secondary schools, which are being upgraded countrywide.
The 1,000 secondary schools development programme aimed at
transforming education in the quest towards making Sri Lanka a
‘knowledge hub,’ is in full swing.
Of the 504 appointees science teachers will be attached to 57
national schools and 210 provincial schools while mathematics teachers
will be appointed to 72 national school and 165 provincial schools.
The secondary school development project is carried out with two
phases under the theme, ‘Transforming School Education Project’ (TSEP).
The objective of TSEP is to increase access to quality primary and
secondary education to lay the foundation for knowledge-based economic
and social development.
The schools which come under the 1,000 school development programme
will be equipped with all facilities since the programme commenced, to
develop 1,000 selected secondary schools to solve education related
issues and shortcomings in disadvantaged rural schools. Under the first
phase, 405 secondary schools have been selected for upgrading.
