Singer under 20 rugby tourney kicks off today

The curtain raiser of the Singer under 20 Inter-Schools rugby
tournament will take place today with segment ‘A’ matches where six top
rugby playing schools confront each other to prove their supremacy.
Royal College will take on Science College today 4.30 PM at Royal
College . The Royal College team will be captained by Sri Lanka Youth
Player Rimzi Jamaldeen and will also have the services of Winger Nimshan
Jayawardena, No 8 Shuayb Mutaliph, Centre Asman Khan, Prop Kaveen Perera,
Flanker Yasuon Weerasooriya and Centre Bhanuka Gamage.
Science College will be led by Scrum-Half Richard Dharmapala and will
field a strong team with 11 senior players in their ranks.
The formidable Peterites will play host to St.Anthony's Kandy at
Bambalapitiya. The Peterites led by Shan Weerakkody will have senior
players including Centre Dilanka Perera, No 8 Anuradha Herath, Flanker
Kevin Dickson, Winger Jerome Canute and Fly Half Shamry Burah and should
get the better of the Antonians.
The Josephians will be led by strongly built Jason Melder will
confront Kingswoodians led by Romesh Prematilleke at Longden Place
today. The close game is on the cards with the joes relying on their
formidable pack while the Kingswoodians as usual will rely on their
speedy three quarters.
Meanwhile, Isipatana College will confront Wesley College on March
16(Saturday) at Royal College Sports Complex while Trinity College will
play host on Dharmaraja College at Pallekele on March
17(Sunday).Isipatana College will be led by Uditha Prematilleke with a
pack of experienced players including Hirantha Perera, Sudam Parinda and
Madhawa Pabasara.Last years ‘B’ Division Champion Wesley College will be
led by Rahul de Silva ,who was the Vice Captain in 2012.And the team
will include several top coloursmen. |
