Compton, Trott seize control for England
England seized control of the second Test against
New Zealand on Thursday as centuries by Nick Compton and Jonathan
Trott put the tourists on course for a mammoth first innings total.
The pair racked up a 210-run partnership as England reached 267 for
two at stumps at Wellington’s Basin Reserve, with Trott unbeaten on
121 and Kevin Pietersen 18 not out after Compton notched
back-to-back Test centuries.

‘Mini Battle’ ends in a draw
The ‘Mini Battle’ between Thurstan College under
19 ‘A’ and Isipatana Vidyalya under 19 ‘A’ team ended in a team
draw. Thurstan batting first scored 101 runs and the top score was
made by Sahan Dasanayake and in reply Pathamians declared at 135 for
9 with Praneeth Dias scoring 25 runs and send Wijesinghe and Ayesh
Weeratne claimed 3 for 30 and 3 for 24 respectively.
