'The Salute': multi-functional, recreation complex opens

Fulfilling a long left need of security personnel of the Vijayabahu
Infantry Regiment, a multi - functional and recreation complex was
opened by Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at
Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) headquarters at Boyagane, Kurunegala
yesterday.
The multi - functional recreation complex, which provides facilities
for various functions such as weddings and other events, lecture hall
facilities for seminars, training programmes etc has been named 'The
Salute'.
The complex comprises 10 luxurious rooms including four VIP rooms,
air conditioned banquet hall and an open area which has more than 500
seating capacity. VIR invested Rs 100 million for the multi - factional
recreation complex.
At the initial stage, facilities at the complex can be obtained by
VIR personnel, disabled War Heroes and family members.
The Army Commander also opened a sports complex, which includes an
indoor stadium for VIR.
Lieutenant General Jayasuriya said the sport complex helps uplift
physical and mental health of VIR personnel including disabled War
Heroes.
The sport complex has facilities for indoor and outdoor games
including basket ball, tennis, martial arts such as Karate, Taekwondo
and archery training. |
