Lyceum, Wattala athletic champions

Lyceum International School, Wattala excelled for the fifth consecutive year at the 13th International School Athletic Championships (ISAC) Meet 2013

Superseding 23 competitive International School, Lyceum International School Wattala won the Championship for the fifth consecutive year and 6 times during the successful 13th International Schools’ Athletic Championships held recently at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo which was organized by Gateway College, Colombo.

With a clear cut lead of 154 points, Lyceum Wattala was able to bag a total of 997 points exhibiting their high level athletic competencies and strenuous dedication towards their performances with an international flavour of high standard.

Gateway College, Colombo earned 843 points to achieve the second place. Lyceum International School, Nugegoda with their 623 points was placed third.

Backed by a skillful and able Training Team, Lyceum Wattala athletes proved their team spirit by grabbing a total of 12 Challenge Trophies along with the overall relay championship and establishing 12 New Records.

The Overall Championships won by Lyceum, Nugegoda and Wattala

1. Under 09 Overall Champion (Lyceum – Nugegoda), 2. Under 11 Overall Champion (Lyceum – Wattala), 3. Under 13 Overall Champion (Lyceum – Wattala), 4. Under 15 Overall Champion (Lyceum – Wattala), 5. Under 17 Overall Champion (Lyceum – Wattala).

Individual Championships won were:

1. Under 09 Girls – Anjalika Madushani, 2. Under 09 Boys – Merone Wijesinghe, 3. Under 11 Girls - Chithara Wickremasinghe, 4. Under 13 Girls - Delini Gomes, 5. Under 15 Girls-Rebeca Silva, 6. Under 17 Girls Amasha Polkotuwa, 7. Under 17 Boys Lachitha Chenuka, 8 Under 19 Boys-Aadil Farried.

1. U-9 Boys Merone Wijesinghe 60m (9.61), 2. U-15 Boys Waruna Attanayake High Jump (1.70m), 3. U-15 Boys 4X100m Relay (47.91), 4. U-15 Boys 4X200m Relay (1:41:21), 5. U-17 Boys Lachitha Chenuka 400m-(52.40), 6. U-17 Boys Achith Chandula Javeline Thr. (49.36m), 7. U-17 Boys Gihan de Zoysa 800 (2:08:60), 8. U-17 Girls Shilpa Fernando Shot Putt (9.65m), 9. U-17 Girls Amasha Polkotuwa Long Jump (5.33m), 10. U-17 Boys 4X400m Relay (3:42:21), 11. U-19 Boys 400m Aadil Farried (50.60), 12. U-19 Boys Tharaka Perera Discus thr (38.92m).
