MCA 'B' division reaches semis

Left handed, Gayan Wijekoon with a quick fire 78 not out in 65 balls, studded with four sixes and eight fours propelled defending Champions, Unichela 'B' to a fine six-wicket win over LB finance in the MCA 'B' division 50 over League tournament, quarter-finals at Kotahena yesterday.

In another bottom half quarter-final at Panagoda, a match winning performance by Ruchina Thavinda (5 /28 and 20 not out in 68 balls with two fours ) enabled Merchant Credit to pip Textured Jersey by one wicket. The gritty Thavinda after his five wicket burst, held the MCSL fort with Asantha Perera (17 not out with two sixes and four fours), as they put on 30 runs for the last wicket to take MCSL home in the 45th over.

In the top half quarter-finals, played on Wednesday and Saturday, Janashakthi "A" (2012 runners up) beat NTB 'A' by 49 runs and Commercial Credit beat Raigam Marketing by 93 runs on the D&L method.

In the semi-finals, Janashakthi 'A' will meet Commercial Credit and Unichela 'B' will take on Merchant Credit of Sri Lanka .
