Ven Brohin Thera felicitated for
services to Theravada Buddhism
A memento was presented by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to
Prof Ven Brohin Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Pathbhavo
Temple in Vietnam, in appreciation for his great services
for the spread of Theravada Buddhism in Vietnam during the
2600th Sambuddathva Jayanthi, was handed over to the Ven
Thera by Namal Uyana founder, Ven Vanavasi Rahula Thera and
Chief Incumbent of the Wellawatte International Buddhist
Centre, Maharagama, Mahinda Thera who participated as
special Sri Lankan delegates. |

| Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith arrives at
the Vatican. The conclave of 115 “cardinal electors” will
begin tomorrow at the Sistine chapel to choose the 266th
Pope following the renouncement of the Holy See. Malcolm
Cardinal is the second Sri Lankan to vote at the conclave in

Madampe Police busted a cattle theft
racket and took into custody four suspects along
with 11 heads of cattle and a van used to transport the
stolen cattle at Puliyankara,
Madampe last week. The Police also found five more heads of
cattle, among them three cows, tied at Kiniyama, Bingiriya
following information provided by the suspects. The Police
also found another herd comprising five heads of cattle
allegedly stolen by the suspects from Mahawilaththawa and
