The Kanduboda Maha Vidyalaya in Delgoda, Kelaniya, now has an elevated water storage tank 30 feet high, a new block of toilets and new washrooms, the school’s abandoned toilets have been repaired and restored under this initiative.

To the students and teachers at this 100 year old institution, the generosity of the donors, top apparel exporter Brandix and Avery Dennison, a global leader in labelling and packaging materials and solutions, means a more comfortable, healthy and sanitary environment to work and play.

According to Anusha Alles, Head of CSR at Brandix, the school needs were identified by the Group Company T&S Buttons Lanka, after which Brandix invited Avery Dennison, which has its manufacturing facilities in the Biyagama Export Processing Zone, to join the effort to address them.

“With the support of the Avery Dennison Foundation, Avery Dennison Sri Lanka is extremely pleased to team up with Brandix in promoting clean and comfortable surroundings for the young students of Kanduboda Maha Vidyalaya,” said Avery Dennison Sri Lanka General Manager, Moji Akingbade.

The water supply and sanitation facilities constructed through this corporate sector partnership were formally handed over to the school recently.

The Brandix Group’s principal CSR efforts are driven by the central corporate theme of ‘Water’ and constitute a long term commitment to increasing the availability of water and the provision of safe drinking water to those most in need. The Group’s community outreach initiatives also include providing wells and pipe-borne water to communities in and around its manufacturing plants and the improvement of sanitation facilities in needy areas.
