Child suffocated to death says Police

Police investigating the death of three persons of the same family yesterday said they suspect the child was suffocated to death.

They said a pillow was found next to the child’s body.

“We believe the woman was also killed as we found a blood stained knife in the wash room,” the Police said.

A police team investigating the incident under the supervision of Panadura Police OIC Mahesh Perera said there were blood stains in many places of the house.

They believe the man might have killed his wife and child before hanging himself.

Panadura Police found the three bodies after they broke opened a house at Gunananda Mawatha, Panadura on Thursday following complaints by residents over the stench emanating from the house.
