Nadira Gunatilleke
A large number of professionals, experts, specialists etc have made
requests from the Economic Development Ministry asking for opportunities
to offer their knowledge and expertise for the Divi Neguma National
Programme, Divi Neguma National Director Jayatilleke Herath told the
Daily News yesterday.
According to Herath, newspaper notices have already been published in
connection with formulating a system to allow all voluntary
professionals, experts, etc to offer their service to the Divi Neguma
National Programme.
We did this followed by a large number of requests from various types
of voluntary professionals, experts etc, seeking opportunities to offer
their knowledge, skills and other resources.
Herath pointed out that apart from the volunteers, the Ministry will
obtain the contribution of university lecturers, academics etc and use
their knowledge to improve and strengthen Divi Neguma programme.
"We will make Divi Neguma their (people's) programme and not ours
(Government's). Only then it will it be sustained, no matter who and
what political party comes into power in Sri Lanka in the future." |
