Asian Paints treats visitors at 'Architect 2013'

Visitors to the Asian Paints stall at 'Architect 2013' had the rare opportunity to use the latest in projection techniques to explore the interplay between colours and effects as the India-headquartered coatings giant put on a characteristically interactive show to present its 'Royale Play' range of paints.

Using 3D video projection mapping, an exciting new projection technique that can turn virtually any surface into a dynamic video display, the company enabled visitors to change the colours and textures of walls, furniture and fittings in a created living space to demonstrate how its products can be used creatively to best effect.

"We felt that the best way to imagine how paint textures look in a room is by actually experiencing it, and the closest we could get to reality without actually painting and repainting walls, was video mapping," said Joseph L. Pulikottil, Asian Paints' Director/General Manager in Sri Lanka. "This was probably the first occasion that visitors to an exhibition in Sri Lanka had the opportunity to use this technique themselves."

Traditionally one of the most visited at the annual Architect exhibition, the Asian Paints stall this year was dedicated to showcasing 'Royale Play,' a unique special effects paint that allows users to unleash their creativity to create distinctively individual finishes that look and feel like wallpaper on interior walls.

Asian Paints' 'Royale Play' and 'Royale Play Matallics' are revolutionary designer paints that enable users to create many eye catching special effects such as a soft and dappled effect, a vertical or horizontal brush effect, a fabric like finish, an old fashioned look, a comb effect with vertical lines, waves, curves or horizontal stripes, a dramatic effect reminiscent of rough plastered ancient walls, sandstone walls or a rough stonewalls, a colour wash effect that gives a crinkly, cross-grained finish or even a hand-painted effect.

With these different finishes and the colour combinations on offer, users of Royale Play can create up to 150 different effects on interior walls.

The decision to dedicate the stall to these products was in view of new finishes Asian Paints plans to introduce under the same product range in the near future, Pulikottil said.
