Sri Lanka-Bangladesh series starts on March 08:
Sangakkara to play warm-up game
Sri Lanka's star bastman Kumar Sangakkara will be playing in the Sri
Lanka Development Emerging Team against touring Bangladesh team in only
warm-up match which will be played at Uyanwatte, Matara from March 3 to
5.
Sangakkara, who fractured his finger in the Boxing Day Test, missed
the rest of the matches in Australian tour. The left hander's
participation was confirmed by Sri Lanka Test captain Angelo Mathews at
the press breifing held at Taj Samudra after arrival of the Bangaldesh
team yesterday.
“Sangakkara has been recovering pretty well and he is playing in the
warm-up game and probably he will include in the First Test at Galle,”
Mathews said.
The touring Bangladesh team, led by 24-year-old Mushfiqur Rahim,
arrived in Sri Lanka last evening to participate two Tests, three ODIs
and one off Twenty20.
Young Bangladesh team showed great potential by winning the home
series against strong West Indies in last ODI series in last December,
where the Tigers won the five match series 3-2.
“We are very well prepared. We had three or four debut players in
recent West Indies Series and we have four of five brand new players for
this tour as well. Sri Lanka is a tough side to beat and we came here to
win. That's what we want,” said Bangladesh coach
Bangladesh will lose the services of their fine batsman Shakib Al
Hassan, who sustained an injury prior to their last one day
international series against West Indies. |
