Suranimala at ‘Together for Peace’ Naval exercise

Sri Lanka Navy’s Fast Missile Vessel Suranimala yesterday sailed for Karachchi, Pakistan to take part in the Multi-national Naval Exercise, ‘AMAN-13’, scheduled to be held from March 4 to 8 under the theme ‘Together for Peace’.

The aim of the exercise is to draw the attention towards non-traditional threats such as maritime terrorism, piracy and illegal drug and arms trafficking. Enhancing inter-operability among regional Navies is also another objective of this exercise.

Seventeen foreign Navies are expected to take part in the exercise.

Maritime security and regional harmony are common goals of maritime nations and they can be achieved through collaborative maritime security.

To deal with the growing maritime security challenges, one needs to anticipate threats and develop strategies for building cooperation and trust at both regional and international levels.

In this context, Pakistan Navy organizes the major multi-national exercise, AMAN, every alternate year under the theme “Together for Peace”.
