No one should gain advantage through the tears of the public and
exploit their grievances, said coordinating the Secretary to the
President Kumarasiri Hettige. He said so at a ceremony held at the North
Central Chief Ministry, Anuradhapura, to award drought compensation
worth Rs 200 million provided by the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society for
farmers in the Anuradhapura district.
Hettige said peace, harmony and stability of the country should be
strengthened for the lasting stability. He said "nature has been
unstable and harsh since we are exploiting natural resources
extravagantly.
These acts create torrential rains, floods, landslides and earth
quakes making the people suffer."
