e-Revenue licence extends to Southern Province

Steps have been taken for extending eRevenue licence, the automated service of issuing vehicle revenue license, to the Southern Province as well.

This service was introduced first in the Western Province, based on its success in the Western Province, action has been taken to extend it to the Southern Province as well, the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) said.

As a result of this vehicle owners would be able to obtain their vehicle revenue licence from the Divisional Secretariat nearest to them.

ICTA said by now the initial activities for introducing this facility in the Southern Province have been carried out. ICTA also said that about 500,000 revenue licences were issued in the Western Province in 2012 under this eRevenue licence project.

ICTA said that while this automated service would be available in the Western Province online, plans were afoot to introduce this facility in the Southern Province. eRevenue licence was scheduled to be introduced to the Sabaragamuwa Province subsequent to its introduction to the Southern Province.
