When this race was extended to other schools, S L B Rosa won this

representing Berrawarts College, Ampitiya. Later Rosa went on to win
5000 and 10,000 metre races at the Asian Games in the 1970's and won two
gold medals for Sri Lanka.
Those days this race started from Lake View Grounds and covering
Udawattekele Reservation (9 kilometers) and came back to Lake View

starting in front of Dharmaraja Auditorium and through Buwelikada,
Tennekumbura passing ‘Surya’ Match Box factory goes upto Kundasale clock
