Applications are now open for the 2014 Australia Awards Scholarship
provided under Ausaid, the Australian government's overseas aid
programme.
According to Australian High Commissioner Robyn Mudie, Australia is
offering around 2,300 students from over 90 countries the opportunity to
study in Australian institutions in 2014.
The best students will be selected on the basis of demonstrated
leadership qualities, academic achievement and their potential to impact
development.
Last year, 30 scholars were selected from Sri Lanka to study in
Australia in 2013.
High Commissioner Mudie said the scholarship is an opportunity to
make a world of difference. She said the Australian government is
inviting applicants who want to be a part of a new generation of global
leaders for development with strong links to Australia.
The scholarships provide recipients with the opportunity to obtain a
tertiary qualification at one of Australia's world class universities.
They also provide recipients with the chance to experience life in
Australia and build links with Australian people and organizations.
The Australia Awards Scholarships offer future leaders the chance to
strengthen their knowledge and leadership skills, with the goal of
contributing to the development in their home country.
"Scholars will receive ongoing support for professional development
throughout their careers from the Australia Awards international alumni
network, linking individuals, institutions and nations," the High
Commissioner said.
Applications for Australia Awards Scholarships opened on February 1
and will close on April 30. Go to
