Four held for having stolen Buddha statue

Four suspects who pleaded guilty to having a golden Buddha statue robbed from the Kirimetiyawa Kahatawila Raja Maha Viharaya were fined Rs 83,000 and sentenced to two years Rigorous Imprisonment suspended for four years each when they were produced before Kuliyapitiya Magistrate Manoj Thalgodapitiya recently.

Police said the suspects were caught while trying to escape after robbing the statues from the viharaya.
