Self-employed get trishaws on easy payment terms

The distribution of three wheelers among self-employed persons on easy payment terms was held at Galle Face Grounds, Colombo under the patronage of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa on Thursday.

A consignment of 98 three wheelers were distributed at this ceremony, jointly organised for the fourth time by the Association of Self-Employed Persons, Siriliya Saviya Project and Orient Finance Company.

This programme was launched by the Siriliya Saviya Project and the Association of Self-Employed Persons on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa in keeping with the Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma, a media release issued by the Media Coordinating Office of the First Lady.

A consignment of 250 three wheelers were distributed under the first stage, 103 under the second stage and 151 under the third stage earlier.

Members of the Association of Self- Employed Persons were offered three wheelers each on a Rs 20,000 initial payment and thereafter they are expected to pay the balance in monthly installments.

Association of Self- Employed Persons president Mahinda Kahandagama, members and their family members were also present.
