Vidyartha 128/3 on first day

Vidyartha College, Kandy had made 128 for 3 in the 28 overs of play which was possible on the first day of the inter-schools cricket match against St. Mary's College, Kegalle which began at Police Grounds, Kandy yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.45 a.m.

For once the weather kept fine and there was no signs of rain but the grounds was required for other purposes which resulted with play starting only at 1.30 p.m. But again play was interrupted for the same reason at 3.45 p.m. and could not be resumed though this interruption lasted only 35 minutes as the pitch had to be swept and the matting carried from outside the boundary lines and re-laid. They had also watered the wicket which had to dry up for the re-laying of matting.
