Jaggery producing centre in Pandaitherippu

A palmyrah jaggery producing centre is being built at Pandaitherippu with the financial assistance of UNDP, the Assistant Commissioner of Cooperative Development V K Arunthavanathan said.

This venture will meet the jaggery shortage in the island, he said.

Office complex opening

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will open the Central Province Administrative Office complex tomorrow at 11 am. “This is the first time a District Office is to be set up away from Kandy main city. This is an important event for Kandy,” Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake said.

The five storeyed building built at Rs 800 million include among others the Chief Minister’s Office and the Chief Secretary’s Office.
