and ballet show themed Salamba-2 on February 23 and 24.
A variety of glamorous dance items and the children's ballet
Pinochchio will be performed by the students of our dancing school on
the 23, whereas the 24 will be a day of sensational cultural and modern
performances by Isuru and Geethani together with other talented senior
artistes and will also put on stage their award winning ballet Swetha
Hansa. Their production Swetha Hansa which was performed for the adult
short ballet competition in the National Ballet Festival 2011 on January
26, 2012 at Janakala Kendraya was a great success winning a number of
awards that included - Best Ballet of the year, Best make-up, Best stage
sets, Best female ballet artist and a Merit award for lighting. Swetha
Hansa is a short ballet performed by 11 young artists.
The significance of this ballet is that 10 out of 11 performers are
students from international schools.
"In a period in which the culture of students in international
schools is criticized by the majority, we think it's our responsibility
to encourage and introduce the talented students who have the will to
safeguard their proud inheritance of culture and dancing", they added.
Isuru and Geethani have gained invaluable experience through their
Guru Piyasara Shilpadipathi during their university education and later
on to be students and artists of the dance ensemble lead by Guru
Ravibandu Vidayapthi.
At present, both of us are teachers at National Schools in Colombo. |
