Sri Lanka good market for Ford brand - Rosner

Thomas Rosner

The conception in Sri Lanka that vehicles built in Germany or elsewhere in Europe was superior to everything else, was a misconception, said Thomas Rosner, Head of Dealer Operations Automotive Management at the unveiling ceremony of the all new Ford Ranger and the Ford Figo in Colombo recently.

He told Daily News Business that renowned automotive manufactures do not set up facilities in other markets with second hand production quality. They have very strict production quality and very strict global standards. Hence he said the quality of the brand stood unhindered irrespective to where it had been produced.

Rosner said, “People in Sri Lanka are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about quality cars and that brings me extra pleasure to bring an iconic brand like Ford to your market. Having witnessed Ford’s rapid growth in the Asia Region, gives me lots of confidence that we have lot to expect here in Sri Lanka as well. I truly believe that this is a good market for the Ford brand.”

He said today Ford delivers products worldwide to the satisfaction of millions of customers. Ford recently celebrated the 350 million delivery worldwide in its 109 years history and that proves the company had been around a long time and had a lot of experience and automotive development. The Ford Focus was currently the world’s best selling car model and had a lot of exciting new products lined up.

Rosner added, “ Sri Lanka is one of the markets we are looking at now in terms of taking more seriously and developing. Together with our partner Future Automobiles, we are in the process of making a fully fledged comeback.

As you probably know, our presence have probably been a little bit less here over the last couple of years, but we are now making efforts to revamp that.

Later this year a Ford flagship facility would be launched with a state-of- the-art showroom, combined with a modern fully equipped workshop to address every possible need.

There would be no compromise in providing the best after sale services. Our aim is to exceed market expectations and we would deliver on this.

The Figo is a very sporty and sophisticated vehicle and it is selling tremendously well in the region and we believe that it has good potential also here in Sri Lanka.”
