Amputation of law student’s hand : report to PSC

The Health Ministry would forward the investigation report into the amputation of the left hand of Law student Achala Priyadarshani to the Public Service Commission (PSC) for necessary disciplinary action to be taken against the relevant officials, states a Ministry release .

According to the investigation report, the proper treatment process has not been followed with regard to this incident in the Matara hospital. The report further states the shortcomings related with the treatment and negligence of duties occurred from the part of certain officials.

It has further observed certain administrative weaknesses with regard to this incident. The report has identified the persons responsible for these errors.

“The ministry on the guidance of its legal division has formulated a comprehensive report in keeping with the legal requirements to be presented to the PSC, in order to pursue disciplinary action, the release stated.
