Anuradhapura Central College crushed Azar Central College, Akurana by
an innings and 66 runs in their schools under 19 cricket tournament
match played at Azar grounds, Akurana Azar Central College batting first
with no useful contributions by their batsmen were dismissed for 154
against some deadly pace bowling by Chathusa Senanayake who took 6 for
10 while off spinner Sashika Chamal took 2 for 12.
When Anuradhapura Central College bated it was run riot as they
amassed 375 for 7 declared in just 64 overs. Kasun Weeranga led the run
spree with a hard hit 98 which included 10 fours and 3 sixes off 111
balls.
But the best batting of the match came from Sanjeeth Nisansala who in
some fine controlled hitting hoisted 10 sixes and 3 fours facing 56
balls in making 94. Azar Central College trailing behind by 220 run were
dismissed for 155 in their second essay despite a stubborn knock of 66
by M M Khan which had 8 fours and 1 six off 84 deliveries.
Off spinner Shashika Chamal took 6 for 19 to end up match figure of 8
for 31. Medium pacer Chathuska Senanayake took 3 for 13 to return a
match haul of 9 for 23.
This was Anuradhapura Central's first match for the season after the
recent floods which devastated the area.
