BOI inked US$ 3. 4 bn deals in ‘12
The Board of Investment signed agreements to the
tune of over US $ 3.4 billion worth foreign direct investments in
2012, which was an all time record. The new Minister of Economic
Development, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane, said that in the previous

LAUGFS enters hospitality industry with Star-Class hotels
LAUGFS Leisure Ltd, a subsidiary of diversified
Sri Lankan conglomerate, LAUGFS Holdings, laid the foundation for
its 110-room luxury hotel in Pasikudah. Construction is currently
underway and the company would invest Rs. 2.5 billion for this
project.

alliance
Malaysia Airlines had begun the final countdown
towards joining the ‘oneworld’ global airline alliance from Friday,
February 1, said Ismadi bin Mohd Yusuff, Controller Media Relations

this project since it would encourage foreigners to
visit Sri Lanka to get their vision checked, hearing
aid, dental care, cosmetics and many more.
Wickramarachchi said that he will join to buildup a
project of this sort to create a new market economy.
