Army’s contribution for development projects:
Govt saves nearly Rs 1,500 m
The Sri Lanka Army helped the government save
nearly Rs 1,500 million on expenditure by contributing labour
towards development projects last year. The Army’s active
contribution to a large number of projects undertaken in the health,
education, sports and urban beautification sectors last year, helped
the government’s development efforts in a big way,

Kalpitiya dolphin killings: 15 arrested
The Police arrested 15 persons in connection
with the killing of 50 dolphins in Kalpitiya earlier this week.
Sources said the massacre had taken place around 10 kms off the
island of Baththalangunduwa in Kalpitiya. Fishermen complained to
the authorities that a group of unidentified persons were engaged in
illegal fishing activities which resulted in the deaths of the
dolphins on January 29.

Suspect arrested
A man who was wanted in connection with
robberies and criminal activities was taken into custody by
Kurunegala Police at the bus stand. He is a resident of Balangoda.
